The First Inhabitants of İzmir
The city’s first inhabitants established their initial settlement approximately 8.500 years ago on the banks of the Manda Stream (Manda Çayı) within the Bornova Plain (Bornova Ovası). These people were a community knowledgeable in agricultural production and engaged in animal husbandry.
