Fazlıoğlu (Dervişoğlu) Hanı

Estimated to have been built in the second half of the 17th century by Köprülü Fazıl Ahmet Paşa or his children, the han later became the property of the Dervişzade family, one of the prominent âyan (local notable) families of the Birgi district. Like other hans in the han district, it was constructed to serve caravans arriving from long distances. The two-story han featured arcades along the courtyard on the second floor. Rectangular in shape, it distinguished itself from other hans in the area with the size of its rooms. With the decline of camel caravans and the trade transformation, Fazlıoğlu (Dervişoğlu) Hanı gradually came to be used primarily for office space, while certain artisan groups also occupied sections of the han. During the construction of Yeni Kavaflar Bazaar (Yeni Kavaflar Çarşısı) (1928-1929), a significant portion of the han was demolished. Today, only a single facade, including its entrance gate, has survived. If you walk from Fevzi Paşa Boulevard towards Yeni Kavaflar Bazaar and observe carefully, you can still see the last remaining parts of Fazlıoğlu Hanı.
