Temple Of Athena

The Athena Temple, built on the terrace above the theater, is a structure in the Doric order with 6×10 columns. The Doric Order, one of the three orders of Ancient Greek and later Roman architecture, distinguished by simple circular capitals on top of the columns, can be interpreted as a reference to the roots of the building, as it was used in the early stages of Greek style. The grooves are roughly carved and left unfinished. There are three metopes between each pair of columns. The column and architrave pieces are still housed in the Berlin Museum. The temple, made of andesite, rises on a two-stepped crepis. The dimensions of the stylobate are 12.75×21.77 meters. The pronaos and opisthodomos are the depth between two columns. The distance from the pteron to the naos is the width between two columns. The columns are slender and tall.
